VERATRUM VIRIDEVERATRUM VIRIDE

(White American Hellebore)

Verat-v.

Causes episodes of auricular fibrillation and reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Leads to congestion, especially in the lungs and brain, with nausea and vomiting. Causes twitching and convulsions. Suited for full-blooded, plethoric individuals. Results in great exhaustion, heart rheumatism, bloated, livid face, and delirium. Sunstroke effects. Treats esophagitis (Farrington). Verat-v. increases opsonic index against diplococcus pneumonia, from 70 to 109 percent. Useful in the congestive and early hepatization stages of pneumonia. Features zigzag fever. Diseases like Tiegel’s contracture, Thompson’s disease, athetosis, and pseudo-hypertrophic muscular paralysis have symptoms similar to those Verat-v. produces in muscles (A.E. Hinsdale, M.D.).

Mind: Quarrelsome, delirious.

Head: Severe congestion, nearly apoplectic. Hot head, bloodshot eyes, bloated livid face, Hippocratic expression. Retraction of the head, dilated pupils, diplopia. Meningitis, pain from neck to head; unable to hold head upright. Sunstroke, full feeling in the head, throbbing arteries (Bell., Glon., Usn.). Flushed face, facial muscle twitching (Agar.), vertigo with nausea.

Mouth: White or yellow tongue with a red middle stripe, feels scalded, excess saliva.

Stomach: Thirsty, nausea, vomiting. Smallest food/drink is rejected. Constrictive pain worsened by warm drinks. Painful hiccough, esophageal spasms. Burning in stomach and esophagus.

Abdomen: Pain above the pelvis, soreness.

Urinary: Scanty output with cloudy sediment.

Female: Rigid os (Bell., Gels.), puerperal fever, suppressed menstruation with head congestion (Bell.), menstrual colic before discharge with strangury.

Respiratory: Lung congestion, difficulty breathing, heavy chest sensation. Pneumonia with faint stomach feeling and severe lung congestion. Croup.

Heart: Slow, weak, irregular pulse, low tension (Tab., Dig.). Constant dull heart pain, valvular disease, body-wide pulse sensation, especially in the right thigh.

Extremities: Aching neck and shoulders, severe joint and muscle pain, electric shock-like limb pain, twitching (chorea), acute rheumatism, fever.

Fever: High temperature in evening, low in morning, suppurative fevers with temperature variations.

Skin: Erysipelas with cerebral symptoms, erythema, itching, hot sweat.

Relationship: Compare with Gels., Bapt., Bell., Acon., Ferr-p.

Antidote: Strychninum, 20-40 drops of fluid extract.

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person. Consequently, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for personalized treatment.
