MAGNESIUM CARBONICUMMAGNESIUM CARBONICUM

(Carbonate of Magnesia)

Mag-c.

Gastro-intestinal catarrh with notable acidity. Beneficial for those who have been using this drug to sweeten the stomach. Often indicated in children; whole body smells sour and prone to boils. Suitable for “worn out” women with uterine and climacteric disorders, experiencing numbness, distention, and nervous prostration. Highly sensitive to minor stimuli like start, noise, or touch. Addresses affections of the antrum of Highmore, and effects of shock, blows, or mental distress. Symptoms include numbness, nerve prostration, constipation after nervous strain, and sensitivity to cold winds or weather, or from excessive worry. Causes intense neuralgic pains.

Head: Sticking pain on the side of the head on which one lies, as if the hair is being pulled; worsens with mental exertion. Scalp itching, especially in damp weather. Pain above the right orbit margin. Black motes before the eyes.

Ears: Diminished hearing. Sudden, variable deafness. Numbness of the outer ear, distention in the middle ear, and subdued tinnitus.

Face: Tearing pain on one side; worsens in quiet and must move about. Toothache, especially during pregnancy; worse at night, with cold, and in quiet. Teeth feel too long. Issues from cutting wisdom teeth (Cheir.). Pain in the malar bone, worsens during rest and night. Swelling of the malar bone with pulsating pain, worse with cold wind exposure.

Mouth: Dry at night with a sour taste. Vesicular eruption and bloody saliva. Sticking pain in the throat with hawking up of fetid, pea-colored particles.

Stomach: Desire for fruit, acids, and vegetables. Sour eructations and vomiting of bitter water. Craving for meat.

Abdomen: Rumbling and gurgling with dragging sensation towards the pelvis. Heavy, contractive, and pinching pains in the right iliac region.

Stool: Preceded by griping, colicky pain. Green, watery, frothy like frog pond scum. Bloody mucus in stools (dysentery). Milk passes undigested in nursing children. Sour stools with tenesmus (Rheum). Constipation after mental shock or severe nervous strain.

Female: Sore throat before menses. Before menses, coryza and nasal obstruction. Menses are late and scanty, thick, dark, like pitch with mucoid leucorrhea. Menstrual flow occurs only during sleep, more profuse at night or when lying down, and ceases when walking.

Respiratory: Tickling cough with salty, bloody expectoration (hemoptysis). Constrictive chest pains with dyspnea and soreness during motion.

Extremities: Tearing pain in shoulders as if dislocated. Painful right shoulder, unable to raise it (Sang.). Whole body feels tired and painful, especially legs and feet. Swelling in the bend of the knee.

Sleep: Unrefreshing; more tired upon rising than when retiring.

Fever: Chilly in the evening with fever at night. Sour, greasy perspiration.

Skin: Earthy, sallow, and parchment-like; emaciation. Itching vesicles on hands and fingers. Nodosities under the skin. Sore and sensitive to cold.

Modalities: Worse in warmth of bed, temperature changes, cold wind or weather, every three weeks, and during rest. Better in warm air and walking in open air.

Relationship: Antidotes: Ars., Merc. Complementary: Cham. Compare: Rheum, Kreos., Aloe, Cheiranthus cheiri (deafness, otorrhea, nose stopped up at night from cutting wisdom teeth).MAGNESIUM CARBONICUM

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person. Consequently, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for personalized treatment.
