CINA MARITIMACINA MARITIMA (CINA)

(Worm-seed)

Cina.
This is a remedy for children, especially those who are big, fat, rosy, and scrofulous. It addresses many conditions related to intestinal irritation, such as worms and related complaints. Symptoms include irritability, variable appetite, teeth grinding, and even convulsions with screams and violent jerks of the hands and feet. The Cina patient is hungry, cross, and wants to be rocked. Pain occurs in shocks, and the skin is sensitive to touch.

Mind: Ill-humored. The child is very cross, dislikes being touched, caressed, or carried. Desires many things but rejects everything offered. Abnormal consciousness, feeling as if having committed an evil deed.

Head: Headache alternating with abdominal pain, relieved by stooping. Headache from eye strain.

Eyes: Dilated pupils; yellow vision. Weak sight from masturbation. Strabismus from abdominal irritation. Eyestrain, especially with presbyopia. Pulsations of the superciliary muscle.

Ears: Digging and scratching in the ears.

Nose: Constant itching, rubbing, and picking until it bleeds.

Face: Intense, circumscribed redness of cheeks. Pale, hot, with dark rings around the eyes. Cold perspiration. White and bluish discoloration around the mouth. Grits teeth during sleep. Choreic movements of face and hands.

Stomach: Gets hungry soon after eating. Hungry, digging, gnawing sensation. Epigastric pain worse on waking and before meals. Vomiting and diarrhea immediately after eating or drinking, with a clean tongue. Craves many different things, especially sweets.

Abdomen: Twisting pain around the navel. Bloated and hard abdomen.

Stool: White mucus like small pieces of popped corn, preceded by pinching colic. Itching in the anus. Worms.

Urinary: Turbid, white urine that turns milky on standing. Involuntary at night.

Female: Uterine hemorrhage before puberty.

Respiratory: Gagging cough in the morning, whooping cough, violent recurring paroxysms down in the throat. Cough ends in a spasm, violent enough to bring tears and sternal pain, feels as if something had been torn off (bronchitis). Periodic, returning in spring and fall, swallows after coughing, audible gurgling from throat to stomach after drinking. Child is afraid to speak or move for fear of bringing on a cough paroxysm. After coughing, moans, anxious, gasps for air and turns pale.

Extremities: Twitching, jerking, and distortion of limbs. Trembling, sudden inward jerking of fingers, and spasmodic motion of the left foot. Child throws arms from side to side and stretches out feet spasmodically. Nocturnal convulsions.

Sleep: Child sleeps on hands and knees, often on the abdomen. Night terrors, screaming, waking up frightened. Screams and talks in sleep. Teeth grinding.

Fever: Light chill with high fever and a clean tongue. Very hungry with colicky pains, chilliness, and thirst. Cold sweat on the forehead, nose, and hands. In Cina fever, the face is cold while the hands are warm.

Modalities: Worse when looking fixedly at an object, from worms, at night, in the sun, and in summer.

Relationship: Compare with Santoninum (similar symptoms, useful in worm affections), Helminthochortos (powerful on intestinal worms), Teucr., Ign., Cham., Spig.

Antidote: Camph., Caps.

Dose: Third attenuation. For nervous, irritable children, the thirtieth and two hundredth dilutions are preferable. Santoninum in first and third trituration (with care).CINA MARITIMA

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole.
