PSORINUMPSORINUM

(Scabies Vesicle)

Psor.

Therapeutic field effective for psoric manifestations. Psorinum is a cold remedy; the patient needs to keep their head warm and prefers warm clothing even in summer. Shows extreme sensitivity to cold, debility unrelated to organic disease, especially after acute illness. Notable for defective phagocytes where well-chosen remedies fail. Useful for scrofulous patients with foul-smelling secretions, profuse sweating, cardiac weakness, and prominent skin symptoms. Can provide immunity against colds, with easy perspiration during walking. Addresses inherited and tertiary syphilis with offensive discharges.

Mind: Feels hopeless and despaired of recovery, deeply melancholic with religious undertones, and has suicidal tendencies.

Head: Wakes at night with pain, feeling as if struck, with chronic headaches, hunger during attacks, and vertigo. Hammering pain; the brain feels too large; worsens with weather changes. Dull, pressure pain in the occiput. Humid scalp eruptions and dry, matted hair.

Eyes: Sticky, blepharitis, recurrent chronic ophthalmia, red eyelid edges, and acrid secretion.

Ears: Red, raw, oozing scabs around ears, sore pain behind ears, herpes spreading from temples over ears to cheeks. Offensive discharge from eczema around ears, intolerable itching, chronic otorrhea with fetid, brownish pus.

Nose: Dry coryza with nasal blockage, chronic catarrh, and posterior nares discharge. Acne rosacea present.

Face: Swollen upper lip, pale, delicate, with humid eruptions and a sickly appearance.

Mouth: Persistent rhagades at corners, ulcerated tongue and gums, foul-tasting tough mucus on soft palate.

Throat: Swollen tonsils with dysphagia and ear pain. Profuse, offensive saliva, tough throat mucus, recurring quinsy, and cheesy, foul-smelling balls.

Stomach: Eructations of rotten eggs, constant hunger with nighttime eating, nausea, and vomiting of pregnancy. Abdominal pain after eating.

Stool: Mucoid, bloody, excessively fetid, dark fluid; hard, difficult stools with rectal bleeding and burning piles. Constipation in scrofulous children.

Female: Fetid, lumpy leucorrhea with severe backache and debility. Swollen, painful breasts (mastitis) with oozing pimples.

Respiratory: Asthma with dyspnea worse when sitting, improved lying down with arms spread. Dry cough, chest weakness, and sensation of sternum ulceration. Recurring winter cough from suppressed eruptions, irregular hay fever.

Extremities: Joint weakness, eruptions around fingernails, fetid foot sweat.

Sleep: Sleepless from severe itching, easily startled.

Fever: Profuse, offensive perspiration and night sweats.

Skin: Dirty, dull appearance, dry, rough hair, intense itching. Herpetic eruptions on scalp and joints, worsened by bed warmth. Enlarged glands, oily skin, slow-healing ulcers, eczema behind ears, crusty eruptions, urticaria after exertion, pustules near fingernails.

Modalities: Worsens with coffee, weather changes, hot sun, and cold drafts. Improves with heat and warm clothing, even in summer.

Relationship: Complementary to Sulph. Compare with Pediculus capitis for psoric manifestations in children, Calc, and Nat-ars for lack of reaction. Bacillus Gaertner shares pessimistic tendencies and troublesome eye symptoms. Use 30th and 200th potencies.

Dose: Use 200th potency or higher. Do not repeat often; may take up to 9 days to manifest effects and a single dose may cause symptoms lasting weeks.

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person. Consequently, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for personalized treatment.
