OXALICUM ACIDUMOXALICUM ACIDUM

(Sorrel Acid)

Ox-ac.

While certain oxalates are regular components of vegetable food and the human body, the acid itself is a potent poison when ingested, causing gastroenteritis, motor paralysis, collapse, stupor, and death. It affects the spinal cord, leading to motor paralysis and intense pain in specific spots, which worsens with movement and thought. Symptoms include throat and chest spasms, left-sided rheumatism, neurasthenia, and tuberculosis.

Head: Heat sensation, meningitis, confusion, vertigo, headache before and during stool.

Eyes: Severe pain, feeling of expansion, retinal hyperesthesia.

Stomach: Violent epigastric pain relieved by flatus, gastralgia, pyrosis, cold sensation below the epigastrium, burning pain extending upwards, excruciating pain from the slightest touch, bitter and sour nighttime eructations, inability to eat strawberries.

Abdomen: Pain near the navel two hours post-eating, flatulence, liver stitches, colic, burning spots, coffee-induced diarrhea.

Urinary: Frequent, copious urination, burning urethra, painful glans, need to urinate when thinking about it, urine contains oxalates.

Male: Severe neuralgic pain in the spermatic cord, heavy, contused-feeling testicles, seminal vesiculitis.

Respiratory: Nervous aphonia with cardiac issues, burning throat sensation, spasmodic breathing with laryngeal and chest constriction, hoarseness, painful left lung, vocal cord tensor paralysis, dyspnea with short, jerky breaths, sharp lower left lung pain extending to the epigastrium.

Heart: Palpitations, dyspnea in organic heart disease, worsened by thought, weak pulse, alternating heart symptoms with aphonia, angina pectoris, sudden sharp pain in the left lung, precordial pains extending to the left shoulder, aortic insufficiency.

Extremities: Numb, weak, tingling sensations, spinal-originating pain extending through the limbs, drawing, lancinating pains, backache, muscular prostration, sprained-feeling wrist, cold, blue, insensible lower extremities, numb sensation, multiple cerebral and posterior spinal sclerosis, jerking pains.

Skin: Sensitive, smarting, soreness worsened by shaving, mottled in circular patches, perspires easily.

Modalities: Worse on the left side, with the slightest touch, light, shaving, and around 3 a.m. with gastric and abdominal pain. Conditions worsen with self-thought.

Relationship: Compare with Ars., Colch., Arg-met., Pic-ac., Cicer arietinum (lithiasis, jaundice, liver afflictions; diuretic), Scolopendra morsitans (terrible back and loin pains extending to limbs, periodic return, angina pectoris, inflammation, pain, gangrene, pustules, abscesses), Caesium metallicum (lumbar and testicular pain, headache, diarrhea, colic, languor). Lime Water is an antidote for Ox-ac. poisoning.

Dose: Sixth to thirtieth potency.

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person. Consequently, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for personalized treatment.
