MORPHINUM

MORPHINUM 6C, 12C, 30C, 200C, 1M, 10M USES AND SYMPTOMS

MORPHINUMMORPHINUM

(An Alkaloid of Opium)

Morph.

Morphine is to Opium what Atropine is to Belladonna, representing its nervous side. It is less stimulating and convulsant, and more hypnotic. It causes less constipation and affects bladder contractility more. It is less diaphoretic and more pruritic.

Mind: Profound depression, irritability, fault-finding, and hysteria. Shock induced by terror, dream-like state.

Head: Vertigo with slight head movement, headache with a sensation of being “wound up,” bursting pain, head drawn back (tetanus, convulsions).

Eyes: Bluish, drooping lids, eye itching, visual delusions when eyes are closed, staring, injected, diverging strabismus, pupils unequally contracted, unsteady look, ptosis, paresis of rectus interni.

Ears: Painful throbbing in the left ear, relieved by heat, sensation of hearing the body’s circulation.

Nose: Paroxysmal sneezing, itching, and tingling on the nose tip.

Face: Dusky red or pallid lividity of the face, lips, tongue, mouth, or throat.

Mouth: Very dry mouth, tongue dry and brown violet in the middle, thirst, loss of appetite with aversion to meat.

Throat: Dry and constricted, paralyzed pharynx making swallowing almost impossible; improved by hot drinks, worsened by solids.

Stomach: Incessant and deathly nausea, faintness, constant retching, vomiting green fluid (bile), nausea and vomiting when rising.

Abdomen: Distended, acute pain in the abdomen and along the spinal cord, tympanites.

Stool: Watery diarrhea; brown or black with severe tenesmus, constipation with large, dry, knotty stools prone to bruise and fissure.

Urinary: Paresis of the bladder, strangury, slow and difficult micturition, urine retention due to prostatic hypertrophy, acute and chronic uremia.

Male: Impotency, pain in the right spermatic cord (Ox-ac.).

Respiratory: Faint and struggling for breath, diaphragmatic paralysis, hiccough, dyspnea, paroxysmal on first falling asleep (Lach., Grin.), Cheyne-Stokes respiration, tight chest, pain in the middle of the sternum, dry, hard, teasing, exhausting cough worse at night, strangling cough with scanty, viscid mucoid sputum that sounds loose and abundant.

Heart: Alternating tachycardia and bradycardia, cardiac muscle tissue remains intact despite severe exhaustion, small, weak, dicrotic pulse.

Back: Pain along the spine, weakness in the loins, aching across the lumbosacral region, difficulty walking erect (Cimic.).

Extremities: Staggering gait (locomotor ataxia), numbness.

Sleep: Yawning, drowsiness, prolonged deep sleep, sleeplessness, restless sleep with frequent startings, sleepy but unable to sleep.

Nervous System: Restlessness, hyperesthesia, trembling, twitching, jerking, convulsions, extreme pain sensitivity causing limb twitching and jerking (chorea), violent, sudden neuralgic pains, sudden fainting, melancholic delirium, intensely painful neuralgias; left supraorbital, right intercostal, improved by heat, multiple neuritis, overall soreness, bed feels too hard, symptoms worsen after sleep (Lach.), neuralgia after zoster (Mez.).

Fever: Chills, icy coldness, burning heat, profuse sweat.

Skin: Livid, purple spots, zoster-like herpes, itching, loss of skin elasticity, urticaria at climaxis.

Dose: Third to sixth trituration.

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Do not exceed the recommended dose by physician
  • Keep out of the reach of children
  • Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Maintain half an hour gap between food/drink/any other medicines and homoeopathic medicine
  • Avoid any strong smell in the mouth while taking medicine e.g. camphor, garlic, onion, coffee, hing

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person. Consequently, it’s crucial to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for personalized treatment.
