CLEMATIS ERECTAClematis Erecta

(Virgin’s Bower)

Clem.

Effective for scrofulous, rheumatic, gonorrheal, and syphilitic conditions. It particularly affects the skin, glands, and genito-urinary organs, especially the testicles. It is significant for sleep disturbances and neuralgic pains, which often improve with perspiration. Muscles may be relaxed or twitching. There is notable emaciation and sleepiness, with distant pulsations throughout the body.

Head: Experiences boring pains in the temples and feels confused, which improves in the open air. Eruptions on the occiput at the hair base are moist, pustular, sensitive, and itchy.

Eyes: Heat and sensitivity to air require them to be closed. Conditions like chronic blepharitis with sore and swollen Meibomian glands, iritis with sensitivity to cold, flickering vision, and pustular conjunctivitis with tinea capitis, causing inflamed and protruding eyes (exophthalmos).

Face: White blisters appear on the face and nose, resembling sunburn. The submaxillary glands swell with hard tubercles and throbbing pain, which worsens with touch. Pain on the right side of the face radiates to the eye, ear, and temple, but improves with cold water in the mouth.

Mouth: Toothache is worse at night and with tobacco. Teeth feel elongated.

Stomach: Post-eating, there is weakness in the limbs and arterial pulsation.

Urinary: Tingling in the urethra persists after urination. Frequent, scanty urination with burning at the orifice, interrupted flow, constricted feeling, and urine dribbling after urination. Pain is worse at night, along the spermatic cord, indicating commencing stricture.

Male: Ilio-scrotal neuralgia, indurated testicles with a bruised feeling, swelling in the right half of the scrotum (orchitis), and issues from suppressed gonorrhea. There are violent erections with urethral stitches. Testicles may feel heavy or retracted, with pain along the spermatic cord, worse on the right side.

Skin: The skin is red, burning, vesicular, scaly, and scabby, with intense itching, worse with washing in cold water, and affects the face, hands, and scalp around the occiput. Hot, painful, swollen glands, especially inguinal glands, with glandular indurations and breast tumors. Varicose ulcers are present.

Modalities: Symptoms improve in the open air but worsen at night, with the warmth of bed, washing in cold water, and during the new moon.

Relationships: Compare with Clematis vitalba (for varicose and other ulcers), Silicea, Staphysagria, Petroleum, Oleander, Sarsaparilla, Cantharis, Phosphoric acid, Pulsatilla.

Antidotes: Bryonia, Camphor.

Dose: Third to thirtieth potency.CLEMATIS ERECTA

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person.
