SANICULA AQUASANICULA AQUA

(The Water of Sanicula Springs, Ottawa)

Sanic.

Sanicula Aqua has proven to be a helpful remedy for conditions like enuresis, seasickness, constipation, and rickets.

Head: Fear of downward motion (like Borax). Excessive sweating on the back of the head and neck during sleep (similar to Calcarea, Silicea). Scaly dandruff and soreness behind the ears.

Eyes: Sensitivity to light and tearing in cold air or from cold applications.

Mouth: The tongue is large, flabby, and burning, needing to be extended to cool down. Ringworm may appear on the tongue.

Throat: Thick, sticky mucus.

Stomach: Nausea and vomiting from riding in cars. Thirsty, but drinks only a little at a time (similar to Arsenicum, China). Liquids are vomited soon after reaching the stomach.

Rectum: Stools are large, heavy, and painful. There’s pain in the entire perineum. No urge to pass stool until there is a significant accumulation. Even after straining, stool is only partially expelled, often receding or crumbling at the anus (like Magnesia Muriatica). Stool has a very offensive odor, with skin irritation around the anus, perineum, and genitals. Diarrhea, variable in character and color, often occurs after eating.

Female: A sensation of bearing down, as though the pelvic organs might escape, relieved by rest. A desire to support the affected parts. Soreness of the uterus. Vaginal discharge smells like fish brine or old cheese (like Hepar). The vagina may feel enlarged.

Back: A feeling that the sacrum is dislocated, which is improved by lying on the right side.

Extremities: Burning in the soles of the feet (like Sulphur, Lachesis). Offensive foot sweat (similar to Silicea, Psorinum). Cold, clammy sweat on the extremities.

Skin: Dirty, greasy, brownish, and wrinkled skin. Eczema with cracked skin on hands and fingers (like Petroleum, Graphites).

Modalities: Symptoms worsen when moving the arms backward.

Relationships: Compare to Abrotanum, Alumina, Calcarea, Silicea, Sulphur. Note: Sanicula Aqua should not be confused with Sanicle (also called poolroot or wood marsh), which is used for nervous disorders and functions as a resolvent and astringent. Sanicle has not been proven effective.

Dose: Thirtieth potency.

selection of the potency

  1. Individualization:

    • Homeopathy is based on the principle of treating the individual, not just the disease. The unique symptoms and characteristics of the person are crucial in determining the most suitable potency.
  2. Intensity of Symptoms:

    • The intensity of the symptoms guides the choice of potency. If the symptoms are intense and acute, a lower potency (e.g., 6C, 30C) might be considered. For chronic conditions with less intensity, higher potencies (e.g., 200C, 1M) may be appropriate.
  3. Sensitivity of the Patient:

    • Some individuals are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies, while others may require higher potencies. The practitioner considers the patient’s sensitivity when selecting the potency.
  4. Acute vs. Chronic Conditions:

    • Lower potencies are often used for acute conditions, while higher potencies may be considered for chronic or long-standing issues.
  5. Previous Response to Potencies:

    • The patient’s response to previous homeopathic treatments helps guide the choice of potency. If a particular potency has been effective in the past, it may be repeated or adjusted as needed.
  6. Vital Force and Susceptibility:

    • Homeopathy views illness as a disturbance in the vital force. The practitioner assesses the patient’s overall vitality and susceptibility to determine the appropriate potency.
  7. Aggravation or Amelioration:

    • The direction of the symptom response (aggravation or amelioration) after taking a remedy can influence the choice of potency.
  8. Miasmatic Considerations:

    • In classical homeopathy, the concept of miasms (inherited disease tendencies) is considered. The practitioner take this into account when selecting the potency.
  9. Practitioner Experience:

    • The experience and preference of the homeopathic practitioner play a role. Some practitioners may have success with certain potencies based on their clinical experience.

Medicine images use for reference only selection of homeopathic medicine depends on the individual’s specific symptoms and overall constitution. Moreover, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that treats the individual as a whole. In addition to addressing the physical symptoms, it takes into account the emotional and mental state of the person.
